Gold Country Stampede Concussion Awareness Program

US Lacrosse and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have partnered to develop a number of educational resources regarding concussions. These resources, titled Heads Up, contain practical, easy-to-use information designed to help reduce the numbers of this type of injury.  Gold Country Lacrosse has chosen to align our club’s concussion awareness program with these guidelines.

Action items for players and parents:

  1. Visit https://www.uslacrosse.org/safety/concussion-awareness for more information regarding concussion awareness.  Please watch the Concussion Awareness video and review the other helpful resources.
  2. Print the Concussion Information Sheet at https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/pdfs/youthsports/parent_athlete_info_sheet-a.pdfThe section at the bottom must be signed by both the athlete as well as parent/guardian prior to starting the Spring season.  Forms will also be available from team managers, and should be turned in to them as well.
  3. Mandatory concussion baseline testing will be completed prior to the start of the season for High School athletes.
